Fitment Data Audit · BigCommerce

Your buyers search by machine. Does your catalog answer?

A parts store lives or dies on fitment — the page that says these are the tracks for a Bobcat E32C. The Fitment Data Audit reads your entire catalog and reports every machine page you're missing, every one that's empty, and every machine your competitors cover that you don't. Computed from your real data, not estimated.

What the audit finds

Four ways a fitment catalog quietly loses sales

Every finding is computed directly from your catalog over a read-only connection, listed with the exact pages and products affected.

Missing pages

Machines with no page at all

Your products fit a machine, but no page exists for a buyer — or an AI shopping agent — to land on. Every machine-specific search for it goes to a competitor.

Empty pages

Fitment pages with zero products

Pages that exist but serve nothing. Google's spam policy treats no-value funnel pages as doorway pages; enough of them can drag down the whole subtree of your site.

Orphaned products

Products invisible where buyers look

The product name says exactly which machine it fits — but it isn't assigned to that machine's page. It's in stock and unfindable at the moment of intent.

Competitor gaps

Machines your competitors cover

Public competitor URLs that name a make and model you don't have a page for. Deliberately conservative: a competitor only earns a machine when their URL itself names it.

How it works

Three steps, none of them a meeting

The audit runs against your live catalog state. Nothing is installed and nothing is modified.

  1. Create a read-only API token

Five minutes in your BigCommerce control panel, with our step-by-step instructions. The token can see your catalog and cannot change anything. Revoke it whenever you like.

  2. The engine reads your catalog

Every product, every category, every fitment page — parsed against your store's own naming conventions. Ambiguous products are flagged for a human, never guessed.

  3. You get the report

Every number computed, every affected page listed by name, delivered within two business days. It's yours to act on — with us or without us.

The audit is a professional services engagement delivered by Fitment Engine. Your data is used to produce your report and nothing else — it is not pooled, resold, or used to train anything.

After the audit

The same engine that finds the gaps can fix them — and keep them fixed

Remediation is optional and never bundled into the audit. The engine creates real catalog objects — native categories, real product assignments, real metadata, no injected pages or scripts. Every change is planned first, applied idempotently, verified by reading it back, and journaled with one-click rollback. On the monthly plan, the engine reconciles your catalog every night: new products land on the right fitment pages automatically, and drift is caught before buyers see it. It has applied and cleanly reverted changes on a live catalog, and we can show you the proof.

Questions

Asked before every engagement

Is this safe to run on my live store?

The audit uses a read-only token — it is technically incapable of changing your store. You create the token yourself, you can scope it yourself, and you can revoke it the moment the audit is done.

Which platforms?

BigCommerce today. That focus is deliberate — the engine works against native BigCommerce catalog objects rather than generic page scraping.

What if my catalog is already clean?

Then the report says so, with the numbers to prove it — placement confidence, page coverage, zero-finding sections included rather than padded. A clean audit is a marketing asset; we don't invent problems to justify the fee.

Do I have to hire you to fix what you find?

No. The report names every affected page and product. Your own team or app vendor can act on it. Remediation by the engine and the monthly monitoring plan are offered, not bundled.

Why would I pay monthly after the audit is done?

Because catalogs don't hold still. Every product you add, rename, or discontinue can re-open the gaps the audit closed. The monthly plan reconciles your catalog nightly and reports the drift — it's the difference between a cleaning and a cleaner.
